FAQ

What makes Curio Cartridges different from standard needles?

Curio cartridges are engineered for precision and safety. Our cartridges utilize a unique needle stabilizing system and a highly durable medical-grade plastic housing to ensure minimal friction and maximum sharpness throughout long sessions.

Who can buy Curio Tattoo Cartridges?

Curio Cartridges are for sale only to professional tattoo artists working in licensed tattoo studios. Our cartridges cannot be purchased by the general public or for the purpose of tattooing from home.

Are Curio Cartridges compatible with my machine?

Yes. Curio cartridges use the universal twist-and-lock system. This means they are compatible with almost all rotary machines and battery pens on the market (including Cheyenne, FK Irons, and Bishop)

Do your cartridges have a membrane?

Absolutely. Safety is our priority. Every Curio cartridge features a full safety membrane that prevents backflow of ink and biological fluids into your machine's motor. This aligns with the hygiene standards recommended to prevent cross-contamination.

What needle configurations do you offer?

We provide a comprehensive range to suit every style:

  • Round Liners (RL): Loose Grouping for Strong Lines
  • Tight Round Liners (TRL): Tight groupings for crisp lines and stippling
  • Hollow Round Liners (HRL): Liners with a hollowed center for crisp bold Lines
  • Round Shaders (RS): Ideal for small-area filling and thick lines.
  • Curved/Soft Edge Magnums (CM): Smooth gradients, Color packing, reduces skin trauma
  • Bugpin Curved/Soft Edge Magnums (BPCM): smooth gradients, black-and-grey realism.

How do I read the sizes on the box?

We use the standard industry numbering system (e.g., 1207RL):

  1. 12: The diameter of the needle (12 = 0.35mm, 10 = 0.30mm).
  2. 07: The number of needle points in the grouping.
  3. RL: The configuration type (Round Liner).

Are Curio needles pre-sterilized?

Yes. Every single cartridge is sterilized using EO (Ethylene Oxide) Gas and individually blister-packaged. Each pack includes a visible sterilization indicator and an expiration date.

How should I dispose of used cartridges?

Even though they are encased in plastic, used cartridges are considered biohazardous sharps. Always dispose of them in a puncture-resistant Sharps Container immediately after use. Never dispose of them in regular household or studio trash.

Why is my ink spitting or pooling?

This is often caused by the needle hanging out too far or your machine voltage being too high for the specific configuration. Ensure your "hang" is adjusted correctly—usually 1.5mm to 2.5mm—depending on your technique and the cartridge's tension.

Can I use Curio cartridges for Permanent Makeup (PMU)?

Yes! Our #10 (0.30mm) configurations are highly popular for PMU artists due to their stability and fine-point accuracy.
